One Wing to Rule Them All

Blended Wing body sounds kinda boring. I think they should call it the boomerang plane. Eh I guess it’s just a prototype so I’ll let the lackluster name persist.

The X-48 prototype plane is a radio controlled and a whopping 8.5 percent to scale. Still that’s no small feat considering it has a 21 foot wingspan and just made its first test flight clocking in at 31 minutes and reaching 7,500 feet.

The BWB planes don’t have a tail, the wing itself blends into the fuselage, giving more lift and less drag than a traditional circular fuselage. This means 30% less fuel consumption than a normal plane and also less noise, both inside and on the ground.

People hate Vista because of Nvidia

Vista-capable lawsuit paints picture of buggy NVIDIA drivers

According to Microsoft’s own included documentation, the widespread reports of NVIDIA Vista driver issues were by no means exaggerated during Vista’s first months.

chart

I knew that Nvidia had crappy Vista drivers but I didn’t realize that they were responsible for almost 29 percent of Vista crashes.  I knew there was a reason that in the first few months of Windows Vista I went to Nvidia’s website every other day looking for new drivers. Oh wait there was, but it wasn’t due to crashing It was due to the craptacular game performance that made me have to dual boot for a few months.

Xcor Aerospace hopes to get its would be spaceman customers on traveling in style. The Lynx Mark 1 will be powered by kerosene based rockets and be able to take the pilot and a passenger up 61km.  This sports car of spacecraft will be able to take off from long runways as long as you clear the models off of them first.

Street Fighter II HD Gameplay Video

Game Trailers has a pretty sweet game play video of Street Fighter II HD for the 360/PS3. Definitely worth a watch if you were an old school 2d fighter fan like I was.

Is it possible? A SE game that’s not Final Fantasy?

When I stumbled on this article I was hoping that it was for the new MMO Square Enix announced a few years back. Unfortunately it is not but hey I’ll take any SE game I can get. You can never have enough RPGS for the DS anyhow.

Square Enix has registered the term Sigma Harmonics not too long ago in the Patent Office, and today’s Famitsu issue features first information on the game. For now we know:

· It is a Nintendo DS title.
· Scheduled for Summer release in Japan.
· Hiroki Chiba is directing (Event director for FFVII and Dirge of Cerberus).
· Yusaku Nakaaki is doing the character designs (Dirge of Cerberus sub-charcter and mechanics designer).
· Kitase is producing.
· It’s an Adventure RPG.
· You hold the DS sideways like a book.
· Development is 60% complete.
· Has a mystery/murder story.
· The game uses RPG elements (level up by experience gained from battles, etc).
· Story is divided into chapters, in every chapter a new mystery happens.

Dell and HP see laptop battery shortage - Yahoo! News

What happens when all you electronics are made by a limited number of manufactures and re branded?  If something happens to the the plant that is manufacturing the item then the problem spreads to all those other brands.  Recently there was a fire at LG’s Chem. plant which is a large supplier for Dell and HP batteries.  As a result battery prices for HP and Dell are going up.  While this alone is not that big of a deal,  it makes you wonder about other products.  If infineon burned down what would happen to memory prices?  Or if China burned down would we still have Chineese food?

Dell and HP see laptop battery shortage - Yahoo! News

the personal-computer industry was experiencing a shortage of laptop batteries partly because of a recent fire at a major supplier, but the company was working with other suppliers to limit any price increases.

Warhammer Online delayed…. again

Warhammer has once again been delayed this time to Q4 of 2008.
I find delays very interesting. It seems to beg the question of whether they were given an unrealistic schedule to begin with, they just keep thinking of cool stuff to add in order to compete with the mighty WoW, or if the game is bad and they are trying to improve it. I suppose it could be a combination of all three but from what I hear its the latter.

Electronic Arts has announced that PC MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning won’t be released until the autumn.

NetflixBox 360

Apparently Netflix is sending out surveys to see if there is any interest in having the ability to stream movies with their service using your Xbox 360. I was under the impression that anyone who had an interest in this already has tried it using Windows Media Center with a certain plug in only to find that Netflix’s selection of streaming movies is even worse than the ones you find on on demand.
